The repeat of Swansea mud from last year, should be a remote thing assigned to history, for this year at least. Weather forcasters, but is Dave one of them(!?), are predicting better weather for this year…

…except for one small part of Cornwall.

“Alright me Babbers!?”

Cheers drive couldn’t keep up the pace, as for Yer Tizz it was a case of Yer Tisn’t and Gert Lush just just went Gert Slush come the end. Alright me Babbers however, trounced through to win  the most prestigious competition going. They were awarded with the most prestigious prize going… We trudged through mud and high water to get those… the lengths we go too…

“And now for the Shipping Forecast”

Fastnet, fair to middling. Fitzroy, squally with heavy mist. Shannon, good becoming poor.

As for Dogger, moderate to good. Congratulations all those boys who managed to actually keep a tidy tent all week and win the most presitigious competition going. Where on earth did they put all the mess one wonders. But then, being boys they probably didn’t create any dirty clothes by simply keeping the same ones on each day, therefore negleting the need to actually open kit bags and create a mess.

They win the most prestigious prize ever, flown in from half way round the world… The lengths we go to…

Signing off…

See you on camp in Swansea! The wettest Summer term ever is over and done, we are now heading for the sunniest summer camp we’ve ever had. Hang on, it’s Wales. I’ll re-phrase, we’re heading for a continuation of the wettest programme ever. If you want or have lost the letters that Dan has sent / given you, then look on the website for another copy.

For those not summer camping (shame on you) then the return in September is:

Friday 12th September 2008

- normal time, smart uniform (bring a packet of Fruit Pastilles)

It is now too late for London, we’re booking things this week and cannot guarantee getting you in after this.

Bivouacking happened last weekend. Fantastic fun! As described on the website the Scouts challenge was to build them – the leaders was to cause as much chaos as possible, whilst still maintaining a steady hand for holding a cup of tea! Everyone stayed dry though, thanks more to the lack of rain than shelter building skills.

Very little blogging now until Swansea time, that’s a whole 4 weeks away! If we find a computer on the other side of the world I might fill you in – till then – peaceful holidays and see you for a new term in the Autumn!

Star City Winners 2008

It is my great pleasure to annouce the winners of the Cabot District Star City Hike 2008:

US!

Yes, the simply superb 62nd Lemmings team romped home in a more than convincing 1st place, 10 points ahead of those in 2nd place. Comments from the bases included:

“Excellent teamwork”

Congratulations yet again, you see, all that effort and getting wet was worth it after all!

You heard it on the blog first!
