A Lie Down in a Darkened Room…

Got home from the older Scouts camp at Pennwood last night. Had to have a lie down in a dimly lit room with an ice pack on the forehead…

…The whole weekend was sunny.

I’ll repeat that.

…The whole weekend was sunny. Ok, so it was still flippin’ frezing overnight and early morning and late evening, but during the day it was actually quite pleasant! It was a shame that we had chosen a campsite very high on a hill and very exposed to the elements. A normal field in normaldom would probably been absolutely gorgeous, mustn’t grumble though, everything stayed dry. Can’t quite remember that feeling!? What shall I do with the next few days!? I don’t have tents to dry!?

Congratulations to the girls, who snuck in through the back door to win the weekend outright. Boys! What were you thinking of!? It was there for the taking, if only it wasn’t for that last half an hour…

Pennwood 09

The rippling rings of Pennsie Woodsidor say we will win in the end, even if we did take 2 and a half hours to put up a tent.

…2009, and beyond

Happy New Year one and all!

I’ve just upgraded my trial version of Microsoft Word to the fully fledged thing after months of putting up with Open Office, whilst very good for a free programme – it’s good to be back from the Word wilderness. Although, the new 2007 layout may ensure more loss of hair than Open Office. Anyway, all this paves way for me to create and urge other leaders to concoct yet another stunning Spring term programme, this time for 2009. Rest assured we will not be recycling old tat, but may refresh a few past gems.

In true radio style any request wil not go unnoticed and may even be included. But remember – I suggest you don’t joke, because we won’t understand and it will end up on the programme…

An impressive year is ahead of us, Winter Camp kick starts in a few weeks, followed by a juicy bowl of strawberry delights with London, Summer Camp, and I’m confident of a lot of others.

By the way, wedding of the year in April! When Mr Dan makes an honest Scout Leader out of Rachel…

See you on Friday 16th January 2009, No Scouts this Friday coming. Bring your Winter Camp slips. Epic location – chosen well, we have. It’ll be a shame to miss you.

Chan’s the Almighty

How the mighty fall…

Pipped by a score of 21.2 against Henleaze Fish Bar at 21.8, the current reigning champion of the chip shops has tumbled dramatically into oblivion. Ok, so it lost by 0.6 of a vote, sounds more like formula 1 to me, with a score like that. Maybe they could streamline the chips a little better, even spend more time in the windtunnel to improve the overall aerodynamics of the chip. A rasied spoiler at the rear could improve downforce on the consumption…

…What is he whittling on about… Congratulations Henleaze Fish Bar – you are the new champions of the 62nd Chip Shop hunt. May you display our certificate proudly, soon to be presented by James and Lizzie. The Scouts obviously liked your chips, praise indeed!

Photo of presentation will feature on the website if we can get a photograph.

Swimarathon

Swimarathon 2008

A stonking 294 lengths in total for 62nd, breaking down to an average of virtually 5o lengths for each swimmer! As yet it is unknown how much we have raised, the swimmers now have the challenge of collecting in all the money. A mega thank you to the honourary Scout who stepped in at the last minute to help support the 62nd. Clifton Rotary Club, the organisers did happen to mention we were the only Scout Group to take the opportunity to participate.

A huge thank you and well done to the whole of 62nd ’swimming team’ !
