Scouting the 62nd Bristol way…

Archive for the ‘London’

What’s on at the Tate?

This looks pretty good – and it’s at the Tate! However, looking at information, which is quite hard to locate, I’ve got a funny feeling we’re going to be a day too late…

London Dungeon

…is now officially getting on my nerves. They never answer the phone – instead you get these incredibly irritating recorded voices speaking in supposedly scary ways. They ask you to leave a message, so you do, and they don’t ring back. You try them on a weekend and they say the office is closed try again between 9am and 5 pm, but it is between 9am and 5pm!

As I need timings I can’t ring HMS Belfast until I’ve contacted the Dungeons. I suppose I could guess, but why should I! If the dungeons answered their phones!!

I’m just hoping they get their act together by end of February because that’s when the offer runs out!

Signing off…

See you on camp in Swansea! The wettest Summer term ever is over and done, we are now heading for the sunniest summer camp we’ve ever had. Hang on, it’s Wales. I’ll re-phrase, we’re heading for a continuation of the wettest programme ever. If you want or have lost the letters that Dan has sent / given you, then look on the website for another copy.

For those not summer camping (shame on you) then the return in September is:

Friday 12th September 2008

- normal time, smart uniform (bring a packet of Fruit Pastilles)

It is now too late for London, we’re booking things this week and cannot guarantee getting you in after this.

Bivouacking happened last weekend. Fantastic fun! As described on the website the Scouts challenge was to build them – the leaders was to cause as much chaos as possible, whilst still maintaining a steady hand for holding a cup of tea! Everyone stayed dry though, thanks more to the lack of rain than shelter building skills.

Very little blogging now until Swansea time, that’s a whole 4 weeks away! If we find a computer on the other side of the world I might fill you in – till then – peaceful holidays and see you for a new term in the Autumn!

What a lot we got!

All released in the last week, and these are just the camps(!):

  • PL’s & APL’s Camp & Spaniorum April 2008
  • Glenny Woods May 2008
  • Surfing October 2008
  • Summer Camp (venue to be announced very soon) 2008

and a big one:

  • London May 2009

Watch the website and your letterbox or just on a Scout Night for details and sign up forms.

 Welcome to the quieter 2008!

London 2009

Coming soon:

A fantastic 5 day, 4 nights expedition to our world famous capital city. Whilst we won’t be staying in BP House this time, we do have another exclusive location lined up. It’s a short walk from Alexandria Palace – where the first TV programme was broadcast from.

Full itinerary (that means what we are going to do…) complete with sign up form and full details will be available soon. I can releae the dates though, for your diaries:

Monday 25th May until Friday 29th May 2009.

Live 07 – the result

Well, we went, we saw, we conquered.  Live 07 Ver2

Overal, not bad, worth going if just for that cheesy coach music! The first half – well lets move on, the second, much better, sadly they were plagued by technical issues and not even a mega professional Peter Duncan could rescue all of it! Great shame, as there were many excellent ideas, many of which they pulled off very well!

We even saw our very own 62nd involvement! Go Rosa! Except you moved too fast and I missed you despite Alexis’s best attempts at trying to describe where you were. Stand still for longer next time!!
