Hope is in the Air

The repeat of Swansea mud from last year, should be a remote thing assigned to history, for this year at least. Weather forcasters, but is Dave one of them(!?), are predicting better weather for this year…

…except for one small part of Cornwall.

A Lie Down in a Darkened Room…

Got home from the older Scouts camp at Pennwood last night. Had to have a lie down in a dimly lit room with an ice pack on the forehead…

…The whole weekend was sunny.

I’ll repeat that.

…The whole weekend was sunny. Ok, so it was still flippin’ frezing overnight and early morning and late evening, but during the day it was actually quite pleasant! It was a shame that we had chosen a campsite very high on a hill and very exposed to the elements. A normal field in normaldom would probably been absolutely gorgeous, mustn’t grumble though, everything stayed dry. Can’t quite remember that feeling!? What shall I do with the next few days!? I don’t have tents to dry!?

Congratulations to the girls, who snuck in through the back door to win the weekend outright. Boys! What were you thinking of!? It was there for the taking, if only it wasn’t for that last half an hour…

Pennwood 09

The rippling rings of Pennsie Woodsidor say we will win in the end, even if we did take 2 and a half hours to put up a tent.

The Problem is…

It was certainly chilly, but none the less enjoyable and the end result is a decision is in the offing for the location of this year’s Summer Camp in August. Full details may even be available by the end of the week, we have a few issues to discuss and finalise before full announcements.

It will be an experience for some whilst others will just go with the flow…

We visited 3 campsites in total all in a similar area of Cornwall. All 3 had their merits, but one was quickly dismissed, leaving us in a quandary. Both are next to a beach and both have stunning views from what would be our campsite. However, both come with problems and it is these which require fine tuning as to which problems we wish to face.

One thing’s for sure – you’ll hear it here first.

Fail – land

Tried searching Failand Scout Campsite in good old Easysearch the other day hoping to get a contact email or number.

Amusingly, the first hit that came up was our very own website…

Notice – lack of ads!? Clever eh!
